Pardee sponsors race, fun run at Eldorado

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

More than a dozen staff members at Pardee Homes are dusting off their running shoes in preparation for the first North Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Department's Northern Exposure 10K Race and 2-Mile Fun Run next Saturday. The race begins and ends at Seastrand Park.

The 25-acre park is located at Camino Eldorado and Centennial Parkway within the builder's Eldorado community. In addition to the Pardee team, there will be 10 corporate teams as well as teams from Nellis Air Force Base and the U.S. Marine Corps.

The public is also invited to participate, according to Kenneth Albright, director of the Parks Department.

"We'll be running through three parks with stunning views of the Sheep Range and other northern mountains," Albright said. "We're proud and excited to show off our fast-growing area and to literally get exposure for North Las Vegas.

"One of our goals is to inspire young children to stay fit. The 2-Mile Fun Run allows children to experience a fun fitness activity in a non-competitive atmosphere."

Through Friday, the registration fee is $18 per person for individuals, and $13 per person for a minimum family of four. The fee is $30 on Saturday. Proceeds benefit the Parks Department.

Pardee Homes is a Platinum Sponsor of the day's activities, which run from 6:30 a.m. until noon. Refreshments will be available and live entertainment will be provided. Several cash prizes will also be awarded.

Entry forms are available at the North Las Vegas Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St.

Seastrand Park is an ideal location for the event, according to Pardee executive and scheduled runner Klif Andrews. In addition to a track, the park has facilities for soccer, basketball, baseball and tennis.

"In fact, this ... community has all the necessary amenities for affordable, family living away from the big city traffic and noise ...," Andrews said. "When the northern section of the Las Vegas Beltway is finished, it will be even easier for Eldorado residents to get around the valley and for other valley residents to see Eldorado."

The community has a fire station, elementary and middle schools, parks and a dozen neighborhoods. It will eventually comprise about 20,000 residents in 5,000 homes.

Several neighborhoods are open for sales.

Cielo features single- and two-story floor plans with as many as five bedrooms, three baths and a four-car garage. Homes measure from 2,407 to 3,006 square feet and are priced from $178,450 to $201,950.

Eldorado Highlands offers two neighborhoods of single- and two-story homes that can be built with three to five bedrooms. At Talavera, floor plans range from 1,380 to 2,296 square feet; at Fontana, homes measure from 1,825 to 2,710 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$130,000s at both properties.

To visit the neighborhoods, take Craig Road to Camino al Norte then go north into the community.

All of the builder's sales offices and model homes are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.
