Visitors get taste of Sun City life

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The Sun City Vacation Getaways program offered by Del Webb is the ideal getaway, according to Don and Becky Wilkins of Orange County, Calif. They were so impressed by their getaway stay at Sun City Anthem in Henderson, that they purchased a home in the age-qualified community.

"We've enjoyed every minute of our visit here," Don Wilkins said. "Free use of a golf cart makes it easy to check out the models, recreation center, golf course, restaurant, you name it. The Del Webb staff go out of their way to make everything very convenient.

"Our new house is near the golf course," he said, "and after seeing The Revere course, I'm planning to take up golf again."

The Wilkinses are awaiting completion of their new home, a Concord model, which offers two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths in 2,510 square feet.

Sales manager Jim Bond said the vacation program has proved popular.

"Vacation Getaways offers an opportunity to sample the Del Webb lifestyle by living in a Sun City Anthem home and experiencing all the community has to offer adults 55 and better," Bond said. "All of Sun City Anthem's amenities are included in the ... package."

Guests can participate in activities at Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot facility that offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities as well as Trumpets Restaurant, which is open to the public.

Program participants stay in Vacation Villas, Del Webb homes that are rented for a minimum stay of two nights to as many as seven nights. All villas are furnished and golf carts are provided to access the various neighborhoods.

"We want people considering Sun City Anthem as a future home to feel the quality of a Del Webb home by living in one," Bond said, pointing out that during their stay, guests are treated to a wine-and-cheese social in their honor, a bus tour of the Henderson area, a breakfast gathering in the restaurant, and opportunities to speak with residents of the community.

Vacation Getaway packages also include discounts at The Revere at Anthem, the community's first 18-hole, par-60 golf course designed by PGA Tour player Billy Casper and architect Greg Nash.

Sun City Anthem offers 17 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet or more through the Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

Sun City Anthem is part of the 5,000-acre Anthem master-planned community. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
