Villas' design appeals to optometrist

Optometrist Laura Holt found the home she had been searching for at The Villas by Rhodes Homes in the southwestern valley.

"What attracted me to the home I chose was the great location and the floor plan," Holt said. "The home is well-designed with an efficient use of space. I wanted a home that is both functional and attractive."

Holt chose the two-story 2024 model with three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a great room and dining room. She said that she chose the model in part because of how it fosters a social setting.

"I fell in love with the kitchen because it has a large island that allows you to prepare meals while socializing in the living or dining area. I hate designs that don't allow you to interact with others. I usually cook at home, so a kitchen that is interconnected with the living spaces, and has a lot of storage, is important to me," she said.

There are three two-story homes available with two-car garages. When using the builder's preferred lender, a desert white granite counter top in the kitchen valued at $2,500 is included.

The first plan, measuring 1,856 square feet, is priced in the high $160,000s. The three-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath home with a loft offers the option of converting the two front bedrooms into a bonus room.

The second model offers three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths; it measures 2,024 square feet. Features include a great room and upstairs master bedroom with walk-in closet. The two front-facing bedrooms can be optionally configured into a second master bedroom or bonus room. The home is priced from the mid-$170,000s.

The third plan measures 2,400 square feet. It features four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a living room, family room, formal dining room and upstairs laundry area. Options include configuring the fourth bedroom into a master bedroom retreat and the two front-facing bedrooms into a bonus room. The home is priced from high $180,000s.
