Friends steer family toward Aliante

When Craig and Erica Lenehan were ready to purchase a larger home for their family of five, they looked at numerous new homes and neighborhoods throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

"Like most people, we do not enjoy the process of moving. So, we wanted to be sure to find the right home, neighborhood and community -- a place that would be our permanent residence," Craig Lenehan said.

On advice from friends, the Lenehans visited the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas. Once there, they knew their search was over.

"Our friends knew we were in the market for a new home, and they told us about Aliante and all of the wonderful things planned for this community," Lenehan said. "We stopped by the information center, studied the `big picture,' and realized that this is where we wanted to raise our family.

"It's an excellent place to learn about every aspect of Aliante. As prospective home buyers during the earliest stage of development, it really helped us get a clear understanding of what this community is about. When we saw the plans for the golf course, parks, schools, shopping centers and other amenities, we were sold."

Lenehan stated the recreational features were particularly attractive.

"As a family, we enjoy golf, tennis, hiking, bicycle riding, picnics and lots of other outdoor activities. At Aliante, we can enjoy all of these activities within our own community," he said.

The Lenehans purchased a home at KB Home's San Destin Palazzo neighborhood.

"We found a beautiful home that was, by far, the best value we had seen anywhere in the valley. It's just perfect for us for so many reasons. The living areas are open and spacious and the children's bedrooms are remarkably larger than anything we had seen elsewhere," Lenehan said.

The 1,905-acre community is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb. It will feature about 7,500 homes in primary and adult villages.

Builders in the primary village are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes, which are offering single- and two-story homes measuring from 1,141 to 3,990 square feet. They are priced from the $130,000s to the $370,000s.

Del Webb Corp. is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante, which features single-story designs ranging from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet and priced from the $170,000s to the $260,000s.

Development plans include an 18-hole municipal golf course, three city parks, linear parks, trails and an arroyo. Also planned are two elementary schools, a middle school, fire station, and about 100 acres of commercial development, including a 40-acre resort with gaming.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south to the primary village or north to Sun City Aliante.

The information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
