Clifford digs for 'Goldrush' at KB Home site
Clifford The Big Red Dog will help KB Home celebrate the grand opening of new model homes at Goldrush, a neighborhood in northwest Las Vegas. In addition to a visit by the canine between noon and 3 p.m. today, a limited number of Clifford books and videos will be given away. Part of the celebration will be a "Smallest Hound in Town" contest. Scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., win, place and show awards will be given to owners whose dogs weigh the least. The first-place winner will receive a prize package that includes a doghouse and $100 gift certificate to a local pet store. The second- and third-place winners will receive $75 and $50 gift certificates, respectively. The contest is limited to dogs weighing less than 15 pounds and at least one year old. For safety reasons, the builder asks that all dogs be leashed or carried in owners' arms. Also, visitors can enter a drawing for a $500 gift certificate. Buyers can choose from 10 floor plans, ranging from 1,098 to 2,312 square feet. Priced from the $140,000s to $180,000s, the single- and two-story homes offer as many as five bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and two-car garages. A variety of customizing options are available. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Cheyenne Avenue, head west to Durango Drive and turn north. Or, take Interstate 215 to the Cheyenne exit, head east to Durango Drive and go north. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Friday, when it opens at 11 a.m.
