Cottages staff aids man's recovery

With the help of the Cottages of Green Valley, an assisted-living and memory-care residential development in Henderson, Jack Andrews, 83, recovered from partial amputation of his left foot and returned to his apartment.

"My daughter found out about the Cottages," said Andrews, a 30-year resident of Southern Nevada. "I came over and spoke with the owners. It is very clean, well-kept and friendly. It is so well-maintained and furnished.

"The location was perfect for me. All the backup services are nearby. The people here will drive you to a doctor, pick up medicine or take you shopping. I'm fortunate because I still have my own car. I'm able to run my own errands and see my daughter in Henderson. My son is a doctor in Boulder City."

The 20-year veteran of two wars said he appreciated the care he received during his stay, particularly the friendliness of the owners, Cadry and Donna Genena, and staff.

"Donna has a real ability with interior design. She has very good taste," he said. "The help is also very friendly. They know people by their first name and that means an awful lot."

Andrews also commented on the myriad activities for residents such as trips, ice cream socials and sing-alongs.

"I'm getting there," he said of his recovery. "This is a beautiful place. I would never go anywhere else."

The Cottages of Green Valley offers single-story living among seven cottages.

For more information, visit the facility from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, or schedule an appointment. The property is at 2620 Robindale Road, near Pecos Road.
