Family shares `togetherness' time in Summerlin master plan
Tia Ghan May and her husband, Brett May, have lived in the Summerlin community since 2002. Within the last year, both of their parents have moved there as well, and they've found it helps bring the clan together. "It's wonderful to live close to our family," Tia Ghan May said. "We spend quite a bit of time together, so it's nice having them right down the street." The couple were among the first residents in The Vistas village, the community's first village west of Interstate 215, and both of them like the environment. "We think of the master-planned concept as asset protection," Brett May said. "We know our neighborhood will continue to increase in value given the quality of care the area receives." Dena and Jeff Ghan, Tia's parents, also liked the community setting. "Summerlin promotes an active, family-oriented lifestyle," he said. "The walking trails, parks and other amenities of the community complement our family interests. Even the dogs seem to love the change." For Lee May, Brett's father, moving provided him with the opportunity to retire near his son. "I am within walking distance from my son. I can't think of a better way to spend my retirement than living close to family," Lee May said. Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin ranked as the country's best-selling master-planned community for much of the last decade, according to independent surveys. Located along the valley's western rim, the community is home to 107 parks, more than 100 miles of trails, schools, houses of worship, shopping and business centers, medical facilities and cultural facilities. Nearly 120 models showcase the available single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums, which are priced from the mid-$300,000s to more than $2 million. Custom-home sites are priced from the $500,000s. Monthly rent for apartments starts from the mid-$800s. For more information, visit www.reviewjournal.com/real estate and click on the Summerlin link.
