When hotel executives Bill Greaves, his wife Dawn Woodhouse, and their Dalmatian, Panda, relocated to Las Vegas from Vancouver, British Columbia, they searched for a new home throughout the southeastern valley before finding the perfect home at The Fairways, a neighborhood in Pulte Homes' Stallion Mountain community.

"Dawn discovered Pulte's communities at Stallion Mountain while I was still living in Canada, and she called to tell me that she found `our home' and hoped I would like it as well," Greaves, a conference manager for a Strip hotel, said. "I loved it immediately. The golf course views, quiet environment and the security of living in a guard-gated community were exactly what I was looking for in a new-home community."

The single-story neighborhood offers four floor plans, ranging from 1,531 to 2,300 square feet. Each includes a two-car garage.

Prices start from $158,990.

"The Fairways community fit our lifestyle, and the Pine Needles model we chose is very spacious with vaulted ceilings and a great room off the kitchen," Woodhouse, a director of catering, said. "We entertain family and friends often, so this model was attractive because it featured the master suite and guest bedrooms located at opposite ends of the home allowing for privacy."

The Pine Needles offers 1,970 square feet with four bedrooms, a porch, and an optional recreation room.

"Our home included quality standard features, which afforded us to save money on upgrades and build a pool," Woodhouse said.

Also available is the Mid Pines model, a 1,531-square-foot home with three bedrooms or a den option, two baths, and a great room.

The Forest Oaks plan measures 2,126 square feet and features three bedrooms, two baths, a den option, a great room, laundry room and formal dining room.

The Pinehurst offers 2,300 square feet with four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, formal living and dining rooms, and an optional hobby room.

To visit, take Interstate 515 to Flamingo Road, go east, past Boulder Highway, and turn left into the community's entrance. Model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Monday, when they open at noon.

Also located at Stallion Mountain are the builder's The Links and The Greens neighborhoods.

The Links features four single-story floor plans, ranging from 1,190 to 1,619 square feet and priced from $125,990. Amenities include front-yard landscaping, a recreation center with a pool, and a park with a gazebo and barbecues.

The Greens series starts at $211,990 and offers four single-story floor plans ranging from 2,300 to 2,881 square feet.
