SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The Parks, a planned community comprised of three neighborhoods and 10 parks, opens today in North Las Vegas. In celebration, Real Homes by Centex Homes, will give away three gas barbecues -- one in each neighborhood -- as prizes. The barbecues are valued at more than $1,500 each.

The gated community's 14 floor plans represent the "builder's best," according to sales and marketing executive Scott Worrall.

"We wanted to combine the best of all our previous neighborhoods," he said. "The final result makes it well worth the extra effort."

Twelve models homes will be open, with prices ranging from $115,000 to the $140,000s.

All homes are single-story designs in Sunnybrook. The four floor plans range from 1,209 to 1,762 square feet, each with three bedrooms, an optional den and two baths.

Buyers can choose from four two-story plans in Whispering Meadows. These homes measure from 1,654 to 2,253 square feet with three to five bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Prices start from the $130,000s.

There are six floor plans available at Granite Creek, ranging from 1,147 to 2,073 square feet with as many as five bedrooms, an optional den or loft, and 2 1/2 baths. These homes are priced from $117,990.

Features, per plan, include fireplaces, media niches, island kitchens, vaulted ceilings, rounded wall corners and recessed lighting.

All homes include gas barbecue outlets, block walls, concrete-tile roofing, post-tension foundations, soft-water loops, and front-yard landscaping with irrigation. Each home also features a gas lamp in the front yard.

When complete, the community will comprise nearly 450 single-family homes.

To tour the models, take Interstate 15 to Craig Road, head west to Commerce Street then go north.

The sales office and model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
