Center Pointe anchors open shop
Center Pointe Plaza at Summerlin Centre, the third major shopping center in the Summerlin master-planned community, came to life last week with the opening of Center Pointe's two anchor tenants, Albertson's and Sav-On Drugs, along with Bank of America. The center's remaining stores and restaurants are expected to open by the end of the year. A joint venture of The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, and Centerpoint Management L.L.C., Center Pointe is a 145,000-square-foot project in the geographic center of the community on Charleston Boulevard, between Hualapai Way and Town Center Drive. In addition to the two anchor stores, the plaza will eventually be home to six fast food and sit down restaurants, a gas station and convenience store, and 30 other tenants. The center is 94 percent leased and will primarily serve residents in the southern regions of Summerlin. Stew Gibbons, executive vice president of The Howard Hughes Corp., said the shopping center was designed with the same attention to detail and aesthetics that were incorporated into The Trails Village Center, another shopping center within the community. "The shopping center faces inward to minimize parking lot visibility," Gibbons said. "Plus, the center's architectural detail is carried through around the back of the center to keep the views of nearby residential areas pleasant, upscale and up to Summerlin standards." Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community for eight of the past nine years, according to an independent survey by Robert Charles Lesser & Co. Situated along the western edge of the valley, it is unfolding in villages, each with its own major park or golf course. The community is home to two Tournament Players Club golf courses, a Jack Nicklaus' Bear's Best golf course and five others. It is also home to nearly 100 village and neighborhood parks, more than 90 completed miles of trails, 16 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers, and nearly 130 model homes. Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from less than $100,000 to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-quarter acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $1 million. Predesigned custom homes are priced from about $800,000 to more than $3 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the $700s. To visit the community's home finding center or custom-home sales center, take Sahara Avenue west, past Hualapai Way, to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara. The offices are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
