Construction starts on Street of Dreams homes

Gregor and Annie Gevorkian, founders of Five Star Development, were the first builders to break ground on a home that will be featured in next year's Street of Dreams luxury housing show in MacDonald Highlands, a hillside custom-home community in Henderson.

Gregor Gevorkian is overseeing construction of the three-story home, while Annie Gevorkian is designing its interior. The home will include five bedrooms and 7 1/2 baths in 7,578 square feet.

The third floor will have four bedrooms and a studio; the second floor will feature the kitchen, living room, dining room, den, guest bedroom, library and media room; and the first floor will consist of a four-car garage and street-level game room.

Nearly every room will have outdoor access, with a pool and deck overlooking the Las Vegas Valley from the second floor and a balcony that wraps around the front of the house on the third floor, according to Gregor Gevorkian.

"We spent a great deal of time planning how to position the home to take advantage of the community's views of the city," he said. "It makes a wonderful backdrop for the home."

Rich MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands, said the home will be a wonderful addition to his community.

"Five Star Development submitted a unique and truly outstanding design for Street of Dreams," MacDonald said. "With its multiple water features in front and its interesting interpretation of our desert elegance architectural guidelines, the home promises to be a highlight of the community for many, many years."

Street of Dreams will run from April 13 through May 27 in the custom-home community in Henderson. Other participating builders are: Sun West Homes, Greg Moore Architect, Job Development, Signature Custom Homes and Desert Wind Investment.

The homes will range from 5,200 to 7,600 square feet and be valued from about $1.8 million to more than $3.5 million.

MacDonald Highlands is being developed on the hillsides of the McCullough Mountains. At buildout, it will feature about 560 homes in 17 neighborhoods. Custom lots are priced from $160,000 to more than $2 million.

Central to the community is the DragonRidge Golf and Country Club, where a clubhouse is planned to include a pro shop, exercise facility, swimming pool, a dining room, and mixed grill and lounge. A temporary clubhouse is open and tee times are available.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway. The information office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
