Del Webb computerizes home buyers' manual

Del Webb recently introduced a computer CD-ROM version of its home buyers' manual at Sun City Anthem, an age-qualified community in Henderson.

"As far as we know, we are the first home builders in the country to offer this service. With the home buyers' manual right in their computers, Del Webb homeowners have access to care and maintenance tips, plus warranty instructions, literally right at their fingertips," customer service director Byron Jones said.

"The CD-ROM version is more efficient. It allows the user to sort through information faster, and there's an online request form if someone needs service to their house. Buyers can even submit a warranty claim electronically," he said.

Exploring the new manual on a laptop computer is part of the orientation given to each home buyer.

"We show the new owners how everything works and make sure they are comfortable with the house," Home Orientation Team supervisor Jeff Barnes said. "It's part of our orientation process where we review things like how the air conditioning and heating systems work, checking the plumbing, appliances, windows, how to properly light the fireplace, and discuss warranties."

Home buyers also have the option of receiving a hard copy of the manual, but Jones said about 85 percent prefer the CD version. It has been available for about a month.

In addition to the ability to request service, the CD version allows buyers to monitor the progress of their requests.

The community features 19 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet. Homes are priced from the mid-$140,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway and turn left. Proceed 1 1/4 miles to Alexandria Drive and turn right. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
