COLUMN: ACHIEVERS



-- Steve Hill, chairman of the Coalition for Fairness in Construction and president of Silver State Materials in Las Vegas, has been elected to chair the Nevada Insurance Commissioner's Construction Liability Insurance Task Force. Joining Hill on the seven-member panel are Kay Lockhart, Nevada Independent Insurance Agents; Mark Sektnan, American Insurance Association; Matt Sharp, representing the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association; Joyce Smith, AM Smith Electric in Reno; Mark Tomlinson, president of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association; and Glen Sheard, representing the general public. Nevada Insurance Commissioner Alice A. Molasky-Arman formed the task force at the direction of Gov. Kenny Guinn, who sought its formation after reviewing testimony presented in July by representatives of Nevada's construction and legal industries. The panel's term ends June 30, 2003.

-- Harsch Investment Properties appointed Daniel Romero to senior property manager. Previously, Romero was with the Alpha Southwest Partnership and the Loretto Towne Centre, both located in New Mexico.

-- ConAm Management appointed Ann Smith as director of education. In this position, Smith directs the region's training program, which is offered to 300 local associates. She holds teaching credentials in Nevada, California and Idaho.

-- Southwest Engineering was awarded the planning and engineering contract for Parcel Four at Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive by D.R. Horton. Ron Jackson will serve as manager of the project, which is expected to cost $96,140.

-- Michael Belnick of Coldwell Banker Commercial ETN, was re-elected for a second two-year term for the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors's commercial board of directors.
