Pardee's single-story design appeals to buyers

After living in a two-story home for a dozen years, Richard and Susan Berryessa were in the market for single-story plan, which they found at Pardee Homes' Stone Creek neighborhood in the southeastern valley.

"We were ready for a smaller, single-story home that was more energy efficient than our two-story home when our daughters `found' our home at Stone Creek," Susan Berryessa said.

The Berryessas' new home is Plan One, a 2,001-square-foot design with two bedrooms, two baths, a great room, den, studio and three-car garage.

"This is certainly not a run-of-the-mill floor plan," Richard Berryessa said. "It has so many areas of interest including the large kitchen that opens into the great room and the studio, which we've decorated with a lot of wood and stainless steel and will be Susan's place for sewing and crafts."

The couple, who both work in the healthcare field, were also impressed by Stone Creek's location within the builder's Rancho Las Palmas master-planned community.

"We are so pleased that we found the home we were looking for in an area that is established and close in, compared to so many new-home communities in Southern Nevada," Richard Berryessa said.

"We look forward to continuing our tradition of having Sunday dinner together with our three daughters and their families in our new home," Susan Berryessa said.

Stone Creek and Tamarack are Pardee's last neighborhoods to be built in the community.

Stone Creek offers single- and two-story homes priced from $249,450 to $308,450. The largest floor plan measures 3,844 square feet and has as many as seven bedrooms.

Tamarack's five floor plans measure from 1,431 to 2,892 square feet and are priced from $198,450 to $260,450. The largest home can be built with as many as five bedrooms, three baths and a three-car garage. Options include a bonus room and workshop.

Homes in both neighborhoods are Energy Star certified by the Environmental Protection Agency and exceed national energy-efficiency standards by at least 30 percent.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Windmill Lane, go west to Bermuda Road, proceed past Pebble Road and follow the signs. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when it opens at 11 a.m.
