Trails rank first among amenities favored by Summerlin residents

Residents of the Summerlin master-planned community have ranked its trails as the most popular amenity, according to two independent surveys.

More than 100 miles of trails link neighborhoods, villages, parks and schools within the community and help provide myriad outdoor recreational opportunities for residents such as running, walking, cycling and skating. They also enhance social interaction between residents.

Street-side, village and dedicated bike trails comprise the existing system, while regional and natural trails will eventually be created along the western portion of Interstate 215, along flood control channels and in the undeveloped areas of the community. Theses trails will then connect to the planned regional trails and Bureau of Land Management land in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Eventually, the community's trail system will encompass more than 150 miles of trails.

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin ranked as the country's best-selling master-planned community for much of the last decade, according to independent surveys. Located along the valley's western rim, it is being developed in villages and is home to 107 parks, houses of worship, schools, shopping and business centers, medical facilities and cultural facilities.

Nearly 120 models showcase the available single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums, which are priced from the mid-$300,000s to more than $2 million. Custom-home sites in The Ridges village are priced from the $500,000s.

Monthly rent for apartments start from the mid-$800s.
