`The Lion King' draws hundreds to Aliante
Hundreds came to the Nature Discovery Park in the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas last Saturday for a free showing of "The Lion King." Hot dogs, popcorn and beverages were also free at the event, which was part of the North Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Department's Movie Madness series. "`The Lion King' was our second outdoor movie presentation this summer and the response was fantastic among people of all ages," Kimiko Peterson, Aliante's community marketing manager, said. "We were pleased to, once again, join the city of North Las Vegas in bringing such a worthwhile, family-oriented event to the community." Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb. Encompassing more than 1,900 acres, the community consists of an all-ages village and an age-qualified village, Sun City Aliante. Combined, they will comprise 7,500 homes at buildout. Home prices start from the $170,000s to the $700,000s. Builders are Astoria Homes, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes and US Home. About one-fourth of the community's acreage is designated for recreational and public purposes including the Aliante Golf Club, Nature Discovery Park, two city parks, more than 20 miles of trails and linear parks, as well as an arroyo. Plans also include elementary schools and a middle school. About 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including a planned 40-acre resort with gaming. An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit, then go south.
