Architect, spouse purchase lot at MacDonald Highlands

Richard and Tannie Luke purchased a custom-home site at MacDonald Highlands in Henderson, a place where he has designed homes through his work as an architect.

The site is situated near one of the holes of the DragonRidge Country Club and offers views of its lake and waterfalls.

One of Luke's next projects is an estate in the community that will measure more than 30,000 square feet.

"Each home that I design takes on its own unique look. When you consider the topography changes that these custom-home sites offer, the hillside lots allow creative possibilities that are endless and they bring with them concepts that are new to the Las Vegas market," he said.

Tannie Luke, a Realtor, also has praise for the community, having sold five custom lots in the community.

"The community offers a lifestyle and overall beauty that is new and different in Las Vegas," she said.

Master planned as a low-density development, MacDonald Highlands is located in the mountains of the McCullough range. The 1,200-acre community has five active neighborhoods of custom-home sites with city, mountain and golf course views. Lots measure from one-half acre to more than 2 1/2 acres, and are priced from $795,000 to more than $3.5 million.

The guard-gated development includes three neighborhood parks that will encompass about 10 acres, and will feature tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, play areas and picnic facilities. Also planned are five miles of walking trails.

A new clubhouse is set to open soon at DragonRidge, where a complementary social membership to the country club is provided to lot owners, upon application approval.

To visit the information center at 1730 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 100, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive and go south to the northwest corner Valle Verde and Horizon Ridge.

The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.
