Larry Eldridge is building his dream home at KB Home's San Destin neighborhood in the Aliante master plan in North Las Vegas.

"I love the model," Eldridge said of his 1,717-square-foot Angelo design from the Tivoli series. "It's perfect for a single guy like me and great for entertaining."

The home features two bedrooms, two baths and a den.

The former Los Angeles Police Department officer worked with the builder's construction team to wire a hall closet for a built-in humidor.

"I love my cigars and the prewiring accommodates my humidor system perfectly," he said. "I decided to get everything I really wanted in this home. I even designed my kitchen exactly like the model."

Additionally, he wired the home for an audio system, put French doors in the dining room and master suite to create an open feeling, and had a covered patio built for outdoor entertaining.

"I like having friends and co-workers over, so this is really an ideal home for me."

Eldridge said he especially likes the community's master plan because it reminds him of a well-planned community in his native California.

"Aliante is very similar to the master plan concept in Irvine," he said. "Everything you need is nearby. I have shopping, great dining and all the services I need right here in the community."

Homes within the neighborhood range from 1,231 to 3,803 square feet and are priced from the high $200,000s.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south.

The builder offers one-stop shopping at its 22,000-square-foot design center located at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201, just south of Warm Springs Road. Through its Homebuyers Club potential buyers can receive free financial advice, including credit reports.
