Toll Bros. exec suggests myriad potential uses for bonus roomsSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
When it comes to making the most of open space in a home, Toll Bros. allows its customers plenty of room for their imaginations. The luxury-home builder has several floor plans throughout the Las Vegas area that offer bonus rooms, according to Gary Mayo, an executive with the company. Typically, these rooms are large, open areas that can serve a variety of purposes. "Bonus rooms allow a space to take on many uses," Mayo said. "It can be a haven for the exercise lover, a hobby room for art projects or sewing, or a relaxing reading room for the entire family." With a television, stereo, sofa, billiards or card table, he suggests, one popular use is as a game room. When situated near a group of secondary bedrooms, an alternative function would be as a study and play area for children. For younger children, a toy chest, themed carpet, child-size table and entertainment system can turn the room into a playhouse. Older children may appreciate having their own space for entertaining friends, perhaps with a computer desk and study area, television and stereo. Mayo suggests the entire family may enjoy using the room for entertainment with a game table, or a large-screen TV with theater-style seating. The builder offers the spaces at several of its local subdivisions: North Canyon Estates and Terra Bella in northwest Las Vegas; The Reserve and The Retreat at Toll Brothers at MacDonald Highlands in Henderson; and Serrano, Toll Brothers at Palomar, and The Reserve and The Retreat at Toll Brothers at Red Rock Country Club, situated in Summerlin. Toll Bros., building luxury homes for 37 years, operates more than 205 active subdivisions in 21 states.
