Rolladen customers request rolling shutters to protect second homes

More Southern Nevadans purchase second homes and call on Rolladen Rolling Shutters to protect their getaway properties.

Among the customers of the Las Vegas franchise are Ron and Anita DeLelles, business owners who often retreat to their cabin for relaxation. The DeLelleses have a two-story A-frame home equipped with shutters on 11 doors and windows.

"The main reason we wanted them was the energy savings," Ron DeLelles said. "It gets very cold up there and a lot more heat stays in the cabin when you have rolling shutters. Also, there's the peace of mind knowing that when we're not there, our home is locked down. It's a big security issue."

He said the company was eager to install the shutters, even though it was a long drive to their cabin.

"One of their technicians coordinated everything with the builder," he said. "We're very happy with their work. The shutters work fine."

DeLelles pointed out the forest green color of the shutters complements their cabin and its surroundings.

"We wanted to be as coordinated with nature as possible," he said. "The shutters complemented the environment well. It's really an architectural accent. The shutters enhance the overall look of the cabin."

Local franchise owner Fran Minnozzi said the company has noticed a big increase in business for vacation homes.

The shutters are foam-filled aluminum slats, operated manually or remotely, that can be installed on doors or windows.

Company representatives measure each business or residence and build the shutters in Southern Nevada with parts from Europe. Installation usually takes place two to three weeks after measurements.

Minnozzi said she will offer one free remote-control motor with every purchase through October.

Rolladen's showroom is situated at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd., just west of Jones Boulevard. The office is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturday.
