Sun City Anthem attracts couple from Northern California

When acquaintances ask Sid and Ann Brandt why they chose to move from the San Francisco area to Sun City Anthem in Henderson, their answer is simple.

"To get away from the traffic and move to where the air is fresh and clean," Sid Brandt said. "This is our fourth home in the 30 years we've been married and by far our favorite."

Of the 17 models available in the age-qualified community, the Brandts chose the Anthem floor plan. Through the community's Gold Key Program, they were able to further customize their home.

The couple added a built-in entertainment center in the Nevada room, installed a bookcase in the owner-bedroom retreat, and converted the den to an office for Sid Brandt's consulting business.

Ann Brandt's favorite part of her new home is the kitchen, which measures 235 square feet.

Their home is only a block from Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot facility that offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

"We love Trumpets," Sid Brandt said, adding that he enjoys taking his granddaughter there as well as his out-of-town clients.

Floor plans range from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through Gold Key. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
