Siena residents meet politicians
On Aug. 27, 46 political candidates who were running for 26 public offices in the primary election were on-hand to meet with more than 300 residents of Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin. "The response to our Candidates Night was overwhelmingly positive," said John Holden the community's general manager. "Our residents showed up in full force and they appreciated the opportunity to spend time with the politicians who will be deciding on issues that are of concern to them and their future." The event was one of several informational events held at the community's interim community center. According to Paul Smith, Sunrise Colony Co. senior vice president and Siena project manager, such events also will be held in Siena's new community center, which recently broke ground. "In addition to serving as the social and activity center for the community, the Siena community center will host functions that will impact the community as a whole, such as political debates, Town Hall Meetings and political forums," said Smith, who added that Siena was recently named as an official polling place. "We feel that it is important for us to present our residents every opportunity to be educated about their community and the issues that concern them and we are proud that we will soon have a wonderful facility for us to host these and many other events." Measuring about 39,000 square feet, the new center will feature a ballroom and a dome-shaped lobby and lounge. The facility, which also will be used for theater productions and entertainment, will feature a cyber café, business center, and arts and crafts, card and game rooms. It is anticipated to open in spring 2003. Other amenities within the guard-gated community include a 13,500-square-foot golf clubhouse; the Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley-designed, 18-hole, par-72 daily-fee Siena Golf Club; and a golf pro shop. Residents may also enjoy a 15,900-square-foot health and fitness center, swimming pools, tennis and bocce courts, a wellness center, beauty salon and day spa. Eighteen single-story floor plans are offered at the community. Priced from the $140,000s to the $370,000s, they range from 1,040 to nearly 3,200 square feet. The Portofino Collection features four attached floor plans that range from 1,040 to 1,378 square feet and are priced from $145,900 to $171,600. To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin. |
