Cashman hosts Seabees

The Navy Seabees, with a detachment in Las Vegas, recently used Cashman Equipment as the site for equipment training to prepare them for potential action.

"Cashman Equipment showed its patriotism and support of the Navy by hosting our detachment on their facility and helping us learn to operate Caterpillar equipment," said Equipment Operator 3rd Class Jeb Bozarth, a member of the Seabees and coordinator of the exercise at the equipment company.

"Each member of the group requires expertise in construction equipment operation as part of their training," he said.

"Because of the time and resources we were given, we were able to train our equipment operators now rather than ... send them to school. Cashman Equipment did a tremendous service to their country by training our Navy personnel."

During the exercise, Navy reservists received instruction from Cashman's Lynn Daybell, operator and trainer, and Mike Guillen, product support sales representative. The group spent about four hours learning to operate backhoe loaders, graders, wheel loaders and track loaders. The participants also reviewed safety requirements and conducted walk-around inspections of each piece of equipment.

To thank Cashman for its support, the Navy will honor the company with an official Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Award, as well as a Seven Seals Award -- named for the seven U.S. military reserve components -- signed by the secretary of defense.
