Domestics retailer opens in Summerlin
Bed, Bath and Beyond has opened in Canyon Pointe, a 600,000-square-foot community shopping center on the 62-acre Summerlin Centre. It is the second anchor store in the center. Costco opened in fall 2001. The 35,000-square-foot fine domestics retailer will operate alongside soon-to-open stores Best Buy, Borders, Marshalls and Office Depot. The Borders book store is scheduled to open Saturday. Best Buy is scheduled to open Sept. 27, and Marshalls has scheduled an Oct. 24 opening. Office Depot has not announced an opening date. "When we broke ground on this site last year, we began looking for a strong retail lineup that would serve Summerlin and area residents well," said Jim Harris, area leasing manager for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "Canyon Pointe has attracted powerful retailers that significantly enhance Summerlin's existing retail offerings." The retail center will feature a collection of sites accommodating users of 15,000 to 150,000 square feet. The center features two big box sites, 210,000 square feet of in-line retail space, restaurant pads of 6,000 to 9,000 square feet, six fast food pads of 2,000 to 4,000 square feet, a bank and a gasoline station. The center is scheduled for completion in early 2003.
