Pardee marks anniversary with home-building project

In three weeks, Pardee Homes will celebrate its 50th anniversary in Southern Nevada with a history-making project: building a home in 50 hours.

The home, a Talavera Plan 3A, will be built in the Eldorado community in North Las Vegas during five 10-hour days starting Sept. 30. Measuring 2,046 square feet, the two-story house features four bedrooms, three baths and a two-car garage.

"The support shown by our subcontractors and vendors to this project has been amazing," said Don Feathers, assistant vice president of construction.

More than 20 companies have agreed to support the project, including Bronco Construction, Campbell Concrete, Builders Showcase, T&R Painting & Drywall Inc., Alexander's Masonry, Gothic Landscaping Inc., Pioneer Plumbing Inc., General Electric, K&K Door and Trim, and TrusJoise/Frameworks. In addition, a city building inspector will be on-site throughout the project.

The public is invited to watch the building process.

The Clark County Public Education Foundation will benefit from the project with 50 $1,000 scholarships to assist local students who want to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Like all new Pardee homes, this one will meet the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star guidelines, certifying that the house is at least 30 percent more efficient than standard homes.

The 50-Hour House will sell for the model's base price of about $165,000 and will include $50,000 in options. Interested buyers may visit the sales office at Eldorado Highlands to pre-qualify and be entered for a chance to purchase the home.

A similar plan can be seen in the community's model park, along with eight models from the builder's Fontana and Mandevilla neighborhoods.

The community includes two parks, a fire station and elementary school.

To visit, take Craig Road to Camino al Norte and head north. The sales center and models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.
