Movie Madness to revisit Aliante community park
Nature Discovery Park within the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas will host an outdoor showing of the Disney animated film "The Lion King." Part of the North Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Department's Movie Madness series, the festivities are scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. The movie will be shown at sundown. There is no charge to attend and free hot dogs, popcorn and beverages will be provided, while supplies last. Those attending are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs. To visit the park, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit and go south. Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp. Encompassing 1,905 acres, the community comprises all-ages and age-qualified villages, which will have as many as 7,500 homes. Astoria Homes, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes and US Home are building homes in the all-ages village, while the age-qualified Sun City Aliante is being developed by Del Webb. Homes are priced from the $170,000s to the $700,000s. Nearly one-fourth of the community is designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, parks, more than 20 miles of trails, and an arroyo. Also planned are three schools and about 100 acres of commercial development including shopping and business centers and a 40-acre resort with gaming. An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
