Buyers find winning hand at Del Webb's Sun City Aliante
Del Webb's age-qualified Sun City Aliante community in North Las Vegas offered the low-maintenance lifestyle that Paul and Eileen Berkowitz were looking for during their search for a new home. "We wanted to live in a three-bedroom house (in a community) with a community pool and social center," Paul Berkowitz said. Originally from New Jersey, the Berkowitzes selected a 1,424-square-foot Primrose model with three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, dining area, nook and two-car garage. Seven single-story designs are available, ranging from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet. Homes are priced from the mid-$310,000s to the mid-$450,000s. Berkowitz, an aerospace electronics consultant, spends his free time playing poker; he also enjoys swimming and traveling with his wife, who is a psychotherapist. They are awaiting the spring 2005 completion of the community's recreation center, which will include a pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms. Tennis and bocce courts are open. In addition, residents have started numerous clubs and organizations. Residents also have access to the master plan's amenities, which includes the public Aliante Golf Club, an 18-hole, par-72 course; and the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park with its group picnic area, amphitheater, soccer fields, and tennis and volleyball courts. Berkowitz said he appreciates his home's energy efficiency. "Our home is well insulated, and we even set our thermostat higher than normal and still stay comfortable." All homes within Sun City Aliante feature Environments For Living technology, which includes energy-saving features such as low-e windows and blown-in cellulose insulation. In addition, they are recognized as Energy Star homes by the Environmental Protection Agency, and offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use and comfort guarantee. The homes also include most appliances, oak cabinets, structured wiring, recessed lighting, flat-tile roofing, and desert landscaping in the front and back yards. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go north. The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's largest home builders. It also offers the age-qualified Sun City Anthem and Solera at Anthem communities in Henderson, as well as the all-ages Club Aliante in North Las Vegas.
