Red Rock Country Club nets honor

The clubhouse at Red Rock Country Club will receive the "Grand Award" for Best Recreational Facility in the National Commercial Builders Council/National Association of Home Builders 2003 Awards of Excellence.

The program recognizes achievements in the industry for design, market appeal, energy efficiency, building challenges and overall success of the project. The award will be presented during a ceremony in Las Vegas in January.

"This is a wonderful recognition for Red Rock Country Club," said general manager Thomas Gilbertson. "Sunrise Colony Co., the developer of Red Rock Country Club, is dedicated to designing its country club communities with the finest recreational amenities available. This honor is a testament to that dedication."

Designed by Altevers Associates of San Diego and built by San Diego-based Roel Construction, the clubhouse opened on New Year's Eve 2000.

"The clubhouse has become the social heart of our community. From a casual place to gather and meet with fellow members and residents to a formal setting for social engagements and private parties, the clubhouse is the perfect venue for every occasion," Gilbertson said.

The 44,000-square-foot clubhouse offers a variety of indoor and outdoor dining options; a meeting room; golf shop; and locker rooms with saunas, steam rooms, lounges and media centers.

Adjacent to the clubhouse is a sports club offering health and fitness equipment and classes, saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, massage therapy rooms, locker rooms and a supervised children's play center.

"Our members are always complimenting us on the extensive variety of classes offered at the sports club. The fitness staff currently offers approximately 35 classes throughout the week with 14 different classes to add variety to anyone's workout regime," said Sally Puskar, director of fitness.

The community also has an aquatic center featuring several pools, a therapeutic spa, and splash-and-spray mini-park; tennis facilities with nine lighted, hard-surface courts; and two 18-hole golf courses. A practice facility is open with a double-ended driving range, putting green and chipping areas.

Upon completion, the guard-gated community will have 1,116 homes. Priced from the $350,000s to more than $2 million, the one- and two-story designs offer as many as six bedrooms and four-car garages, and measure from 2,100 to more than 5,300 square feet.

Among the customizing options are guest houses, courtyards with fireplaces, wet bars, and master-bedroom retreats with media niches and fireplaces. In addition, the community's Sunsation program allows for customized options such as room additions, swimming pools, and upgraded landscaping, patio and lighting designs.

A limited number of custom-home sites are available, measuring from 15,000 to 20,000 square feet in The Estates, a gated neighborhood of 86 homes within the 738-acre guard-gated community. Prices range from $315,000 to $500,000.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue west past Town Center Drive and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 west to Sahara.

The country club's information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
