Fire station nears completion at Lake Las Vegas Resort
A city of Henderson fire station being built in Lake Las Vegas Resort is on schedule to open in mid-December, according to Sherri O'Boyle, vice president of marketing for the community.
"When Lake Las Vegas Resort began construction in Henderson, city and resort officials realized the need for an immediate local fire response for the community," O'Boyle said. "The new station will cut response time to Lake Las Vegas Resort and surrounding areas and will allow the fire equipment from other stations to stay in their areas."
The 15,800-square-foot facility will house a 20-man fire crew, three pumper units, one hose and air unit, and three rescue vehicles, including a fire truck and golf cart paramedic vehicle.
Last year, the community received its first fire truck.
"We are very excited about the Lake Las Vegas Resort fire station and we know that having this facility on property is comforting and reassuring to our existing and future residents," said Dennis McGarvey, vice president of property operations for the community.
The community encompasses the SouthShore residential development as well as a resort area. The 550-acre, guard-gated SouthShore offers lakeside home sites, a variety of views, and the SouthShore Golf Club. Activities available to residents include a yacht and beach club.
The Mediterranean-theme community offers home sites terraced into the hillsides surrounding the lake, priced from $310,000 to $1.75 million.
The latest residential project within the community is PortaCielo, which will feature 72 homes in three floor plans with several design options available. Homes range from 2,460 to 3,500 square feet. Prices start at $480,000. Standard amenities include French doors, pedestal sinks, island kitchens with slab granite counter tops, fireplaces and owner suites with walk-in closets.
The SouthShore Yacht & Beach Club features Medi- terranean-style architecture and a porte-cochere. The 17,000-square-foot building features a rotunda area, fireside lounge, dining room overlooking the lake and another dining room for private gatherings.
Other features of the club include a fitness area with locker rooms, meeting room, outdoor pool and spa, shaded loggias and poolside grill. Plans also call for a marina with boat slips and a harbor master's office.
Club memberships are open to community property owners. A limited number of invitational recallable memberships will be offered to nonowners.
Located along the northern shore of the lake and encompassing 1,370 acres will be a resort complex. Facilities include the Reflection Bay Golf Club, the Reflection Bay Golf & Beach Club and the lakeside La Chandele restaurant. Proposed facilities include hotels, European-style gaming, spas, several golf courses, a retail village and restaurants.
The first residential offering on the northern shore is MonteCatini, which has multi-acre home sites priced from $2 million to $5.8 million.
Also available is Sorrento, a gated custom-home development overlooking the Reflection Bay course. These home sites range from one-quarter acre to more than one-half acre. Prices start at $265,000.
Opening in mid-December, the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort will be the first hotel to open at the site. Situated on a 21-acre site adjacent to the golf course, the hotel will feature Mediterranean architecture with two-story windows, loggias, ironwork and a tiled rooftop. A fountain courtyard will lead to an indoor/outdoor two-story lobby overlooking the lake.
Lake Las Vegas Resort is being developed by Transcontinental Properties Inc.
