Retirees return to Las Vegas, discover Timberline
Al and Denise Yeager lived in Las Vegas for 22 years before moving to the East Coast in 1988. Twelve years later, the couple returned, choosing a home at Perma-Bilt Homes' Timberline neighborhood, located in the Shadow Hills' community in northwest Las Vegas. "Our sons both live in Summerlin so we knew that eventually we wanted to come back to Las Vegas to be closer to them," Denise Yeager said. "We looked at houses in Summerlin, but found what we were looking for at Timberline." The Yeagers discovered the neighborhood last Christmas while visiting their sons and bought the Torrey plan, which measures 3,536 square feet and features five bedrooms, three baths and a split three-car garage. The couple, married 40 years, moved in one week after Al retired from a phone company. The Yeagers said they enjoy the 45,000-square-foot Shadow Hills Club, which features a lap pool, swimming pool, workout room, sauna, steam rooms, basketball halfcourt, putting green, barbecue facilities and patio seating. "The club was one of the primary reasons we bought at Shadow Hills," Al Yeager said. Four floor plans measuring 2,895 to 3,828 square feet are offered at the gated neighborhood. Prices start from $232,950. Other plans at the neighborhood include the Bishop, which measures 2,895 square feet and includes a split three-car garage. It features five bedrooms; options for a den, loft or studio; 2 1/2 baths; an island kitchen; and family room. The Ponderosa measures 3,706 square feet and comes with a three-car garage, five bedrooms and four baths. The kitchen offers an island workstation, pantry and swinging door into the dining room. There are options for an office, computer center, deck and bridge to the owner suite. The Monterey features as many as seven bedrooms and four baths in 3,883 square feet. It has a kitchen with an island workstation, pantry and adjoining family room. Other features include a fireplace and curved staircase. The home can be built with an optional den or study and deck over the front entrance. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Cheyenne Avenue and go west. Models are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.
