Schoolteachers' research leads to Anthem
When both a husband and wife are schoolteachers, it's only natural that they would do their homework before making a major purchase, which is what Todd and Mindy Peterson did. After using virtually all the tools at their disposal to find a home, the Petersons are now preparing to move their family of five into a new home at Weston, a Coventry Homes neighborhood located in the Anthem master-planned community. "Over a year ago, when we knew we would be moving to Las Vegas, we began making monthly trips from Idaho, specifically to find the right home and neighborhood we wanted to raise our family in," Todd Peterson said. "We're pretty sure we have visited every new-home neighborhood in town -- but when we came to Weston, we knew this was the perfect place for us." Todd Peterson, who has built the family's last three homes in Idaho Falls himself, wanted to ensure that the homes were well-built. After visiting some homes under construction and checking the company's references, he was satisfied. Speaking with the construction superintendent also put his mind at ease. Features in the home, a 2,558-square-foot Princeton model, were also important. "Having a guest room downstairs, separated from the other bedrooms, was important," Todd Peterson said. "We have a lot of family members from Idaho that will be visiting often, so we really needed that feature." Mindy Peterson liked the home's standard features, such as its dual staircase, built-in ovens, microwaves, wood stair rails, wood window sills and hardwood cabinetry. The Petersons also asked the builder to match the kitchen counter-top tile to the kitchen flooring they selected. The Petersons soon will move into their new home with their 8-year-old son T.J., and daughters, Tahni, 3, and Taycie, 2. The neighborhood offers single- and two-story homes, ranging from 2,034 to 2,700 square feet. Prices start from $197,990. The models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway, and follow the road to Reunion Drive. Turn east on Reunion Drive, then south on Cornet Street, and west on Spirito Avenue.
