Street of Dreams headed to MacDonald Highlands

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Although today is the last opportunity to take the Street of Dreams luxury housing tour in Seven Hills, plans are already under way for the show's return to the Las Vegas Valley. In fall 2001, the event moves to MacDonald Highlands, a custom-home community in Henderson.

Bryan Ashbaugh, CEO of Street of Dreams Inc., said several communities in the valley expressed interest in hosting the show.

"Participants and visitors have come to expect a convenient location, numerous amenities and fantastic views from the Las Vegas Valley Street of Dreams, and MacDonald Highlands delivers all of these qualities in a unique hillside setting," Ashbaugh said. "Interest from builders looking to participate in the 2001 tour has been extremely strong. We anticipate that eight to ten builders will participate."

Rich MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands and its DragonRidge golf club, is equally delighted.

"I'm really looking forward to the terraced designs of hillside homes created by the accomplished builders and architects participating in the event," MacDonald said. "The popular ... event showcases some of the best custom builders in the country, and we think it's a great opportunity to showcase MacDonald Highlands as well."

Next year's show, which will be the Seattle-based Street of Dreams' third visit to Southern Nevada, will be held in the Highlands neighborhood and the first to feature terraced homes built into a hillside.

When complete, MacDonald Highlands will comprise about 500 custom homes in a two-square-mile area. Seven neighborhoods are under development and offer home sites with city, mountain and golf course views. Lots in these neighborhoods range from one-third acre to more than two acres and are priced from $159,000 to more than $2 million.

The central amenity is DragonRidge, a private equity golf and country club, which opened May 1. Its 30,000-square-foot clubhouse is scheduled to open late next year with a golf shop; exercise facility; swimming pool; and three dining rooms, including a separate mixed grill and lounge. A temporary clubhouse is open, and equity memberships are available to both residents and nonresidents of MacDonald Highlands.

The golf course was designed by Jay Morrish and David Druzisky. Between them, they have designed such courses as Troon in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Forest Highlands in Flagstaff, Ariz.; The Reserve in Indian Wells, Calif.; the Links at Teton Peaks in Wyoming; and Loch Lomond in Scotland.

The community's master plan includes three parks that will encompass about 10 acres with tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; play areas; and picnic facilities. Five miles of fitness trails are also planned.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Both the sales and golf offices are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
