Siena residents attend health fair
More than 400 residents of Siena participated in the age-qualified community's recent health fair in Summerlin. "We had a wonderful turnout. In addition to appreciating that they didn't have to stand in line at the drug store to get their flu shots, our residents had the opportunity to meet with a variety of medical and service providers," Wayne Ireland, director of fitness, said. Sponsored by Summerlin Hospital and Medical Center, the event was held in the social center and included hearing screenings, blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings and a variety of blood tests. Also, several health care providers were available, including a dentist, physical therapist, chiropractor and podiatrist. "The Health Fair is a great event for our residents and we look forward to hosting it for many years to come," Ireland said. The event is one of several held at the guard-gated community, which offers myriad amenities. Among the amenities is an 18-hole, par-72, daily-fee championship golf course, as well as a 13,500-square-foot clubhouse with a golf pro shop and full-service restaurant. The Siena Golf Club is open to the public, but residents receive special rates and preferred tee times. A 15,900-square-foot Tuscan-themed health and fitness center features an indoor swim pavilion with a 25-meter pool and spa, outdoor pool and spa, tennis and bocce ball courts, cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, exercise rooms, and private saunas and steam rooms. In addition, there is a wellness center, beauty salon and day spa. An interim social center, site of a variety of classes, is also home to a computer lab, billiards and card rooms, and a sewing center. Construction recently began on a 39,000-square-foot community center that will include a grand ballroom, cyber café, business center, arts and crafts area, and cards and game rooms. It is anticipated to open in spring 2003. Homes within the community are priced from the $140,000s to the $370,000s, plus home-site premiums. Six Italian-themed collections feature 18 single-story floor plans measuring from 1,040 to about 3,200 square feet. A variety of customizing options are available, including plans with courtyard fireplaces and casitas, which can be selected at the on-site design studio. To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
