-- Las Ventanas, Las Vegas' first senior retirement life care community, broke ground on a 17.5-acre site at the corner of West Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive in Summerlin. The facility will offer its residents an active independent lifestyle along with immediate access to health care in the form of professionally staffed assisted living and skilled nursing care. The $90 million project will be built by Perini Construction Co. as well as numerous local subcontractors. -- The Thomas & Mack Development Group broke ground for the final building at McCarran Center, a 1.5 million-square-foot office and light industrial complex at Warm Springs Road and Amigo Street. The new 48,000-square-foot building is located at the entry to the complex, where construction started in 1995. -- Southwest Engineering has been awarded the engineering and survey contract for Paradise Encore, an 18.3-acre project located at the northeast corner of Thom Boulevard and Deer Springs Way. The project is being developed by D.R. Horton Homes. Engineering and survey costs are estimated at $134,590. -- NAI Horizon's Penny Mendlovic represented The Sleep Shop in its five-year lease of 1,996 square feet at Raley's Crossroads, located at the southwest corner of Tropicana Avenue and Fort Apache Road, Suite 103, from Trop 15, represented by Patricia Johnson of Daycor Properties, for $271,855. In another transaction, Janet Goldstein, Kathy Campbell and Carla Molina represented Spa NV Property in its sale of 10,845 square feet at Westwind Professional Plaza, located at 5600 Spring Mountain Road, to Franko and Elda Frankola, represented by Sunny & JC Bollman of Century 21 Moneyworld, for $1 million. -- American Nevada Corp.'s Richard Green represented the company in its five-year lease of 895 square feet at Pebble MarketPlace, located at 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway, in Henderson, to The Water Place for $127,000. -- Stoltz Management's Kirt Klaholz represented the company in its three-year lease of 6,222 square feet at 823 Pilot Road, Suite B, in the Hughes Airport Center, to Anchor Coin for $310,000. -- CB Richard Ellis' Steve Terry represented United Services America FCU in its sale of a 1,000-square-foot building at 416 Madison Ave. to the Second Baptist Church for $54,000.
