Southern Highlands hosts Invensys

For the third consecutive year, Southern Highlands Golf Club was one of the host courses for the PGA Tour's Invensys Classic at Las Vegas Golf Tournament held earlier this month in Las Vegas.

The tournament offered the opportunity for nonmembers and amateur players to experience the Southern Highlands course. It also provided a chance to play with touring professionals such as John Daly, David Duval, Jim Furyk and Phil Tataurangi, this year's champion.

"We are truly honored to have been selected among the host courses for this prestigious event," said Garry Goett, president of Southern Highlands. "We wanted to ensure that all players, both professional and amateur, enjoy every aspect of our golf course and our facilities. Based on the feedback that we are getting, we have certainly succeeded."

The 7,440-yard, par-72 course hosted the first three rounds of the PGA event and pro-am tournament.

Water features, elevation changes and landscaping marked by pine trees in a desert setting complement the golf course's traditional design.

"All three host courses for the Invensys Classic have been incredibly supportive throughout the tournament," said Charlie Baron, tournament manager. "At Southern Highlands, players on both professional and amateur levels enjoyed the hospitality they received. The facilities at Southern Highlands were great and everyone was pleased with the excellent condition of the golf course."

In less than two years, 200 of the 360 available golf memberships have sold.

Other than golf, the guard-gated community features The Estates, an enclave of custom-home lots among the fairways. The lots measure from one-half acre to 2 acres and are priced from $300,000 to more than $1 million.

In addition to a 42,000-square-foot Tuscan-style clubhouse, residents have private membership in The Spa at Southern Highlands. Plans for the facility include a training area, private steam rooms, massage and treatment rooms, and tennis courts.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the Henderson/Lake Mead Drive exit, head west and follow the signs.
