Lake Las Vegas Resort takes shape

Lake Las Vegas Resort is rapidly becoming a reality, according to R.F. Boeddeker, chairman and president of Transcontinental Corp., owner and developer of the resort in Henderson.

"The vision was to bring together, in a single place, the world's finest golf courses, upscale residential living environments, and services and amenities, all centered around a serene lake that literally sprang from the desert," Boeddeker said.

Lake Las Vegas Resort is ranked No. 28 on Golf Digest's list of the "Top 75 Golf Resorts in America" for its two Jack Nicklaus-designed courses: the private SouthShore Golf Club and the public Reflection Bay Golf Club. A third course, The Falls, was designed by Tom Weiskopf and opened recently. A fourth course, designed by Tom Fazio, is planned.

Central to the 2,600-acre development is a 320-acre lake with 10 miles of shoreline. It provides opportunities for fishing, sailing and swimming, as well as miles of pathways for walking, hiking and biking. A full-service marina complements the lake.

The SouthShore Golf Villas provides views of the lake, SouthShore Golf Club and mountains. Each of the 20 attached villas are available fully furnished and include a master bedroom with full bath and private patio, a living room, powder room, island kitchen with breakfast nook and a patio. The villas measure about 950 square feet and are priced from $341,000 to $445,000.

In addition, Lake Las Vegas Resort offers custom-home sites, waterfront residences, townhomes, fairway homes and other distinctive residential enclaves.

Overlooking the ninth hole of the SouthShore course is MiraBella, a collection of single-story villas measuring from 3,730 to 4,220 square feet. They are priced from $1.5 million.

On the northern shore and adjacent to Reflection Bay Golf Club are four residential enclaves, ranging in price from $400,000 to more than $1 million.

Ravello is built into the hillside overlooking the Reflection Bay course. The neighborhood comprises 24 villas priced from $501,000.

Overlooking the 11th and 13th fairways is Sorrento, a collection of 52 single- and two-story homes that range from $764,000 to more than $1 million.

Tramonto surrounds the golf course, and offers two-, three- and four-bedroom homes ranging from 1,908 to 2,823 square feet. The homes are priced from $589,000.

Vila di Lago is adjacent to the golf course, and comprises 147 single-family homes and townhomes measuring from 1,603 to 2,526 square feet and priced from the $400,000s.

Potential residents are invited to take a 45-minute water taxi ride on the lake.

Resident amenities include the SouthShore Yacht & Beach Club, which provides members with a beach, picnic and lawn area, an outdoor pool and spa, fitness room, and tennis and basketball facilities. In addition to providing day-to-day assistance with home care, the concierge staff is available to make reservations and other arrangements.

The resort is also home to the Hyatt Regency Las Vegas, and next spring will debut a Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Also set to open next spring is MonteLago Village, a Mediterranean-themed development providing entertainment, shopping and dining on the water's edge.

To visit the resort, take Interstate 515 to Lake Mead Drive and head east to Lake Las Vegas Parkway. Or, take Interstate 215 to Lake Las Vegas Parkway.
