Residents extol Sun City Anthem
Peggy Keer loves her home and living at Sun City Anthem. "Oh, I love my kitchen. It's huge. There's a place for everything," she said. Much like her kitchen, the Del Webb community offers a place for a variety of activities, which Keer encourages others to enjoy. She and her husband, Kirk, have lived in the age-qualified community for 4 1/2 years. They were among the first homeowners and have watched the community grow around them. "We looked all over the country for our new home. We wanted an active-adult community, and the more we looked in different places, the more we liked what Del Webb had to offer," she said. "Everyone promises stuff, but Del Webb actually does what they say they are going to do," Kirk Keer added. The couple, originally from Long Island, N.Y., moved to Irvine, Calif., and then to Los Gatos, Calif. She managed a medical office and he worked with satellites and aircraft. They have been married for 42 years. Kirk Keer has been golfing for 15 years and plans to join the men's club. Peggy Keer, an avid swimmer, uses the indoor pool at the community's 77,000-square-foot Anthem Center, site of fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents. She said she enjoys meeting new people in the community so much that she now works part-time as a hostess at the sales center. Keer also appreciates the view from her home. "Right now, I am standing in my dining room looking at the mountains. I can see Red Rock Canyon, and out across the valley. In the winter we can see snow on Mount Charleston. It's very peaceful here," she said. Located in the foothills of Black Mountain in Henderson, the community is home to The Revere at Anthem Golf Club, which features two courses: the Lexington and the Concord. Residents play at a discounted rate. Homes measure from 1,496 to 3,175 square feet and are priced from the mid-$200,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and then turn right on Alexandria Drive. The sales office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
