UNLV's Lied Institute presents Lieder award to American Nevada

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The 2004 Lieder Award was presented last night to American Nevada Co. at a banquet at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. The award is presented annually by the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It is given to an individual or company that exemplifies excellence in real estate development.

"American Nevada is one of Southern Nevada's oldest, largest and most respected developers," Debra March, executive director of the institute, said. "The company's contributions to the local real estate industry and the quality of life in Southern Nevada are unparalleled."

The company developed the master-planned communities of Green Valley, Green Valley Ranch and Seven Hills in Henderson. Its newest is Aliante, which the company is developing in North Las Vegas in a joint venture with Del Webb. Commercial interests include business parks and retail centers, and comprise more than 2.5 million square feet of existing properties.

More than 300 people attended the gala.

"Receiving an award like this from the Lied Institute is especially gratifying to us, because their efforts are instrumental in providing solid educational foundations for the future leaders of our industry," John Kilduff, president of American Nevada said.

The institute supports courses in the university's business college that lead to degrees in real estate. It also offers scholarships, internships, continuing education, and the Commercial Real Estate Certification and the Certified Graduate Builder programs.

Phil Ralston, an executive at the Henderson-based firm, accepted the award.

"(We are) delighted to receive the Lieder Award, and it comes at a perfect time -- in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of our company," he said. "We promise that American Nevada will continue its role as a respected leader in our industry and our community."

Previous Lieder Award recipients were Robert Lewis, Irwin Molasky, The Howard Hughes Corp. and Del Webb.
