Radio executive tunes into Turnberry Towers

Howard Grafman, an entrepreneur in the radio industry, and his wife, Paulette, have purchased a unit at Turnberry Towers, a high-rise condominium development at Karen Avenue and Paradise Road. The property is a development of Turnberry Associates, which also built Turnberry Place on Paradise Road.

"We knew the high-rise market was booming, so we visited Turnberry Place in 2000," Paulette Grafman said.

"But the timing was not right for us, so we decided to wait. When Turnberry Towers was introduced, we knew it was the right time, and were so excited that we bought a residence over the phone. Since we already visited Turnberry Place, we knew the developer would deliver a quality product. There's a certain cache about a Turnberry property."

Howard Grafman was among the first to take FM radio mainstream in the 1960s, when AM dominated the dial. He and his wife also own a home in Southern California.

"We want to have a vacation home in Las Vegas because of its close proximity to Los Angeles, there's great shopping and dining, and it's like a Disneyland for adults," Paulette Grafman said.

Turnberry Towers will comprise two 45-story towers, and more than 600 units with one to three bedrooms. Prices range from $500,000 to more than $1.3 million.

Each tower will feature a fitness facility, an outdoor pool, landscaping, tennis courts, a valet and 24-hour security.

The Grafmans purchased a 1,658-square-foot residence with three bedrooms. It is located in the first tower, which is expected to be completed in spring 2007.

Standard features in all units will include Italian marble baths, spa tubs, granite-topped European kitchen cabinetry, upgraded appliances and 9-foot ceilings.

A 1,658-square-foot model is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the sales office at 222 Karen Ave.
