Solera hosts kickoff for new rec center
Ground was broken recently for the 18,463-square-foot recreation center at Del Webb's age-qualified Solera at Anthem community in Henderson. Planned amenities will include a pool, fitness center, billiard tables, and rooms for clubs, hobbies, computers and crafts. "Solera residents are thrilled to see their community taking shape," community association manager Karla Pearson-Call said. "The residents have already started over 12 special interest groups and look forward to continuing their camaraderie when their recreation center opens next spring." Clubs established within the 385-acre community are dedicated to mah-jongg, walking and hiking, poker, books, needlework, bridge, singles, men and women. Members of the tennis and bocce clubs have been using the community's tennis and bocce courts for months. In addition, The Revere at Anthem Golf Club features two championship courses: Lexington and Concord. Homes are being sold in Solera South, a collection of neighborhoods south of the recreation center. Five single-story designs range from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet. They are priced from the mid-$200,000s. Del Webb has simplified the buying process at the community by including features in the homes that are often considered upgrades. These include two-tone paint, ceramic-tile flooring, ceiling fans, Corian kitchen counter tops, most appliances, category-five wiring and covered patios. All homes merit the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star label and have energy-saving features such as low-e windows and blown-in cellulose insulation. They use Environments For Living technology and offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use and comfort guarantee. Upon buildout, the community will have 1,750 homes. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's largest home builders. The company is the developer of the age-qualified Sun City Anthem and Sun City Aliante communities in Henderson and North Las Vegas, respectively, as well as the all-ages, guard-gated Club Aliante in North Las Vegas.
