SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

When William Foster first visited Pahrump four years ago, he decided then that he would retire to the Nye County community.

"I fell in love with the community and bought land," said Foster, a former resident of Sacramento, Calif. "Before I started construction, I saw what William Lyon Homes was doing at Mountain Falls. I saw the value they were offering, and knew I had to get my Mountain Falls house now and build my own later.

"The views of Mount Charleston and the vistas that Pahrump offers were a major part of the attraction to move here. The small-town atmosphere reminds me of home in the Midwest."

Now, Foster and his fianc?e, Linda Foster, are residents of Mountain Falls, a golf course community in the Pahrump Valley, which is located about 45 miles west of the Las Vegas Valley.

John and Dina Erdag, also former residents of California, were attracted to the 1,050-acre community for similar reasons.

"The beauty of this area, the small-town feel, the attractive price -- it was exactly what we were interested in for retirement," John Erdag said.

"I'm very familiar with William Lyon. When we heard they were building at Mountain Falls, there was no doubt in my mind that we'd try to purchase a home."

Both of the couples purchased 2,445-square-foot residences at Tramonto, one of three all-single-story home neighborhoods within the community.

"Our layout is just outstanding," Erdag said. "It was exactly what we were looking for to meet our needs."

Tramonto's four floor plans range from 1,970 and 2,445 square feet with three or four bedrooms and two or three baths. Three-car garages are standard.

Cascata, another subdivision within the community, offers four designs measuring from 1,429 to 1,774 square feet with three bedrooms, two baths and two-car garages.

The Bella Serra neighborhood's three plans range from 2,495 to 2,897 square feet with three to five bedrooms, 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 baths, and standard three-car garages.

Features, per plan, include island kitchens, breakfast nooks, covered patios, master baths with sit-down vanities, and private entry courtyards. Options may include bay windows, dens, wet bars and casitas.

Homes are priced from the low $200,000s

Community amenities include the 18-hole Mountain Falls Golf Club. A residents-only facility, scheduled to open in early 2006, will feature a private fitness center, two swimming pools and a water play area. A banquet room, restaurant and bar will be open to the public. Small parks and four miles of trails are planned.

The sales center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Blue Diamond Road and travel west about 45 miles. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road, proceed to Hafen Ranch Road, turn right, go to Lakeview Drive and turn left.
