Retirees select Sun City Anthem
John and Connie Robinson, a couple from Cerritos, Calif., moved to Del Webb Corp.'s Sun City Anthem in Henderson to enjoy the Nevada climate. The couple chose the age-qualified community as a retirement spot, and also liked the size of their new home, where they'll move in soon after Thanksgiving. "We chose the Anthem model because of its large square footage and actually added two full extra rooms," Connie Robinson said. "I'm so enthused about having my large family come to visit and happy to have the room for them when they do." The Robinsons added the bedrooms through the developer's Gold Key program. Connie Robinson, a retiree from the advertising industry, and John Robinson, who used to be in telecommunications, plan to participate in the community's activities. "We look forward to having the opportunity to meet people through the variety of clubs that are offered," Connie Robinson said. "One of the major reasons for moving here is to take advantage of all the fitness and recreational activities in one place." Activities are provided at Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot facility that offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. The couple plans to golf at The Revere, an 18-hole championship course designed by PGA golfer Billy Casper and architect Greg Nash. Sun City Anthem offers 17 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. To visit the model village, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. The models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
