Ardiente to host Fifties-theme classic car show today in North Las Vegas
The Ardiente community in North Las Vegas will host a '50s themed classic car show in the parking area of its clubhouse today from 1 to 5 p.m.
"Classic Cars at Ardiente" will showcase a selection of vehicles from private collectors, and all guests are invited to cast votes for their favorite hot rod, with cash prizes going to the winning entry.

Classic refreshments of hamburgers, fries and root beer floats will be served in this free event sponsored by Centex Homes, developer of the Ardiente community.
"The cars and food are part of an overall '50s theme we have planned for the day," said Jillian Lura, marketing manager for Centex. "With so many classic cars lined up and the aroma of burgers and fries hanging in the air, our parking lot will be reminiscent of a skate-up diner."
Though the competitive portion of the event has been closed, visitors are encouraged to bring along their own classic vehicles.
"All those who love their classic cars can get together and share their passions with like-minded people. Those with more contemporary tastes in wheels may enjoy the day as well. The Ardiente clubhouse is the perfect place for regular folks to share their interests in a relaxed setting," Lura said.
Ardiente is a 788-home, age-qualified community and hosts special events about every other week.
While open to the public during sales, the events are planned to be ongoing for residents, serving as an essential part of the social life of the community.
In addition to events, an on-site staff organizes a variety of outings to local sights and organizes crafts and fitness classes.
The 13,000-square-foot community center features rooms for games, social interaction and physical fitness. Areas include tennis and bocce courts, a heated swimming pool and lap pool, spa, built-in barbecues, a putting green, a fitness facility, billiards room, lounge and meeting rooms.
The guard-gated development includes six themed parks, including the Rose Garden, a dog-walking area and sports courts. All are connected by a trail system with a series of exercise stations throughout the property.
Two sets of models are open, offering a total of eight floor plans, measuring from 1,235 to 2,352 square feet in their base configurations. Floor plans are expandable to 2,813 square feet.
Homes include two or three bedrooms, two baths and two-car garages, as well as den options.
Prices start from the $200,000s, with select homes available for move-in as early as October.
The homes are designed to meet Energy Star standards, which can save residents on their heating and cooling costs and are typically quieter than a standard home, according to the builder.
To visit, take the northern portion of the Interstate 215 Las Vegas Beltway to Pecos Road, go south to Tropical Parkway, drive east to Walnut Avenue, then follow the signs.
The sales offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except on Monday, when they open at noon. For more information, visit www.centexhomes.com
