Hughes showcases Ridges at golf tourney
The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of the Summerlin master-planned community, recently joined with Neiman Marcus to host the second annual Best Dressed at Bear's Best tournament at Jack Nicklaus' Bear's Best Las Vegas golf course in The Ridges at Summerlin. Dan Van Epp, president of Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, said golfers were invited to participate in the tournament by Phil Hernandez, a personal shopper at the store. "The tournament was not only a unique benefit for loyal Neiman Marcus customers, it was also a great opportunity for us to showcase Summerlin's most exclusive living environment to this select group," Van Epp said. Prizes were awarded to the four best-dressed players while ugly ties were given to the four worst-dressed participants. The Ridges is located at the western end of Desert Inn Road adjacent to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the Spring Mountains. The luxury community is being built around the golf course. "The dramatic and breathtaking beauty of the area is guiding development of The Ridges as a natural living environment unlike any other in the Las Vegas Valley. Architectural detail and design in The Ridges will carefully blend into the natural environment. In The Ridges, nature is tantamount to man-made beauty," Van Epp said. The guard-gated community features neighborhoods via a landscaped parkway. Club Ridges, a fitness center, and a 3-acre park are planned and will offer recreational opportunities exclusively for residents. Promontory, the first custom-home development, is nearly sold out with only two of 54 sites remaining. They are priced at $616,000 and $643,000. Arrowhead, which offers 25 half-acre lots adjacent to three holes on the course, was introduced in January and is experiencing strong sales. Home sites are priced from $512,000 to $699,000. A third neighborhood, Rimrock, was recently introduced and features the largest home sites to date. Priced from $595,000 to $797,000, lots measure at least three-quarters of an acre. Predesigned custom homes are priced from $2.1 million. Hughes is an affiliate of The Rouse Co. of Columbia, Md. To visit the custom-lot sales center, travel west on Desert Inn Road until it ends in The Ridges and turn left. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
