Art, craft festival begins today
The Green Valley Town Center Art and Craft Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday in Henderson. The festival will transform the 70-acre complex into an art walk with displays, demonstrations, and the works of more than 100 artists from the West, including those from Nevada, Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Oregon. The event is sponsored by American Nevada Corp., developer and property manager of Green Valley Town Center, and is being organized by local artist Mark Vranesh. In the east fountain courtyard, more than 70 artists will feature fine art and crafts including painting, sculpture, pottery, glasswork, photography and jewelry. More than 50 craft booths offering items such as soaps, candles and potpourri will be showcased in the west fountain courtyard. In addition, demonstrations in gourmet cooking and interior design will be offered by the Art Institute of Las Vegas, and flower arranging will be presented. A "Kidz Art Park" in the west fountain courtyard will offer a variety of hands-on arts and crafts projects. Activities will include Halloween tote bag decorating, mural painting, ceramic painting and coloring. Also planned are performances by musicians Vibhas and Prasado Kendzia, a gourmet market booth, activity area, food sampling, balloon giveaways, face painting, and art demonstrations. Ceramic painting for children and portraits by Loren Purcell will be available for a nominal fee. Green Valley Town Center is located at 4500 E. Sunset Road, just east of Green Valley Parkway. |
