Pulte marks 10th year in Southern Nevada

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Reaching out to area schoolchildren is the theme of Pulte Homes' 10th anniversary in Southern Nevada. Randy Bury, Las Vegas division president, got this month's celebration started with a visit to Kit Carson Elementary School on D Street, just south of Lake Mead Boulevard in Las Vegas.

Bury spent a recent afternoon reading to the youngsters and presenting them with much-needed school supplies.

"Pulte Homes really understands the importance of education for children in our community," Bury said. "This is just our way of giving back, and what better way to do that than to donate our time and experience to our local students."

Builder representatives are visiting additional schools, presenting workshops such as a building-block activity to explain the importance of teamwork; a cooking demonstration by renowned chef Gustav Mauler; a swimming pool safety class, including a CPR demonstration; and discussions about the importance of energy efficiency.

The school visits will continue through November, and will be documented in photographs that will be presented to the participating classes.

"This will be truly memorable for Pulte Homes," Bury said. "I hope that we can look back and say we made a difference in a child's life, even if it was just for a day."

Pulte Homes has supported education programs for several years, and most recently hosted an event to benefit the KLVX Ready to Learn Program and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The event included storytelling for children at the Art of the Motorcycle exhibit at the Guggenheim, a cocktail reception and silent auction the following week, and a golf tournament at Silverstone Golf Club.

Michigan-based Pulte Homes has been in business for more than 50 years, and is active in 44 markets nationwide. Under its Del Webb brand, the company is a leading builder of age-qualified communities.

Locally, the builder is developing 10 neighborhoods. Its newest project, Wyeth Ranch, has opened for presales in the northwestern valley, where Pulte also plans to develop Silverstone Ranch.

Presales are expected to start this month in North Las Vegas at Serenata and Villeto, both of which are located in the new Aliante master-planned community, where Del Webb's Sun City Aliante is also open for sales. Del Webb is also developing Sun City Anthem and Anthem Country Club in Henderson.

Pulte Homes earned the top ranking among Las Vegas-area builders in the J.D. Power and Associates 2002 New Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study. The company has received the honor for three consecutive years.
