Siena residents celebrate in reggae style

Nearly half of Siena's more than 700 residents danced and dined under the stars during a recent reggae-themed resident appreciation party at the age-qualified community in Summerlin.

"It was the last night of summer and a beautiful evening to hold a party in honor of our residents outside at Siena's wonderful outdoor pool," Paul Smith, senior vice president and project manager, said. "Residents really enjoyed themselves dancing, visiting and savoring the warm evening with a hint of fall in the air. We even had residents who waded in the swimming pool, dancing to the sounds of the reggae band Trinity."

Guests were also tempted to see "how low they could go" with King Limbo, who maneuvered under a limbo stick with about 6 inches of clearance.

"It was really a wonderful evening and a great party," said resident Joyce Lewis, who attended the party with her husband, Michael. "From the food to the entertainment and even the weather, everything was just perfect."

A buffet consisted of Caribbean-inspired foods such as coconut shrimp, ham, ribs and tropical drinks.

"In the spirit of our country in light of the terrible incidents of Sept. 11, a large United States flag hung prominently over the pool area, bringing a spirit of patriotism to the event," Smith said.

The guard-gated community, which is also patrolled by security officers, is priced from the $170,000s to $650,000. Fourteen Italian-style, single-story floor plans are available, ranging from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet.

Each plan offers three exterior designs and customizing options, including courtyard fireplaces and casitas with separate entrances. Interior designers at the builder's design studio are available to assist homeowners.

Amenities include a Tuscan-themed, 15,900-square-foot fitness center with an indoor swim pavilion featuring a 25-meter pool, a spa and two-story windows overlooking the community's golf course, outdoor pool and spa, and lighted tennis and bocce ball courts. The center also has cardiovascular, weight and exercise rooms, as well as saunas, steam rooms and a wellness center.

A full-service beauty salon and day spa offers massages, sports therapy, reflexology and body treatments, and a social center hosts a computer lab, billiards and card rooms, and a variety of classes, ranging from ballroom dancing to watercolor painting.

One-third of the community's 1,900 homes will be built along a par-72, 18-hole championship golf course, open on a daily-fee basis to all ages. Siena residents are given preferred rates and tee times.

A 13,500-square-foot golf clubhouse, scheduled for completion in late spring/early summer 2002, will feature a golf shop, locker rooms and casual dining.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin.
