Sun City Anthem celebrates birthday
A full day of festivities are planned for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the fourth birthday of Del Webb's Sun City Anthem in Henderson, as well as the Anthem master plan. Entertainment, food and prizes will be offered throughout the community. "Everyone is invited to join the party," Sun City Anthem sales manager Jim Bond said. The event will take place at the model village for the age-qualified community. To attend, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and follow the signs to Alexandria Drive. Visitors can tour 19 model homes ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and priced from the mid-$140,000s to more than $500,000. Bond said that the age-qualified community has developed rapidly since it opened. "So much has happened in the past four years," Bond said. "We've had 4,053 home sales since we first opened in 1998. In addition, we are adding two new communities in Anthem: Solera, an active-adult village, and Anthem Highlands, which will be open to all ages." Myriad amenities have taken shape. The Anthem Center opened in April 2000. The 77,363-square-foot facility offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. The community's first shopping center, Anthem Village, followed in November 2001, offering a pharmacy, grocery story, coffee shop and restaurant. One year ago, the Revere Clubhouse opened. It features a golf shop, three banquet rooms, a subterranean 165 golf cart storage area, restaurant and sports bar. The Revere at Anthem Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship golf courses, Lexington and Concord. Del Webb donated land and funding for the Henderson Fire Department's Fire Station No. 99, which was dedicated in February. Tom Hennessey, Del Webb's vice president of land development, said that more growth is on the horizon within the master-planned community. "Walgreens will open a store at Hampton Road and Anthem Parkway later this month. There will be a medical office building starting construction at Eastern and Anthem Parkway this month as well," Hennessey said, adding that other medical offices near Anthem Center are slated to open in three months. In addition, the builder has donated a school site to be developed by the Clark County School District in 2004. A 55-acre park also is under construction and is planned to open in April 2003. The sales office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Del Webb's other projects include Anthem Country Club and Sun City Aliante.
