Stage set for Green Valley's annual art festivalSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
When the Green Valley Town Center Art and Craft Festival kicks off next weekend, it will be the largest in the event's five-year history, according to festival organizer Mark Vranesh. "This (event) will rank among the largest in all of Southern Nevada in terms of participating artists, booths and activities," Vranesh said. "Last year, we began expanding some of the children's and merchants' booths to Town Center III, and for this show we have added 50 artisan booths in that area alone. "I believe we had about 35 artists in our first Green Valley show in 1998. This show will feature the works of more than 100 artists from all over the west, including Nevada, Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Oregon. It promises to be a wonderful event for the artists and visitors alike." The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and next Sunday. It is sponsored by American Nevada Corp., the town center's developer and property manager. The 70-acre complex will take on an art-walk atmosphere encompassing the center's promenades, fountain plazas and outdoor dining areas. The works of more than 70 artists will be exhibited in the east fountain courtyard, including paintings, sculptures, pottery, glasswork, photography and jewelry. The west fountain courtyard will feature more than 50 craft booths offering fall and holiday crafts, as well as handcrafted items such as soaps, candles and potpourri. Gourmet cooking and interior design demonstrations will be presented by the Art Institute of Las Vegas. There will also be a Kidz Art Park at which children can participate in arts and crafts projects. Live music is also planned. The town center is located at 4500 E. Sunset Road, just east of Green Valley Parkway in Henderson.
