Family treasures Eldorado

When it was time to purchase a new home, Greg and Sheila Darling decided to remain in the Eldorado community in North Las Vegas where they have lived for more than eight years.

"Eldorado has parks, schools and everything that makes for a great community. We have lots of family and friends living here, and they would all say the same thing," Sheila Darling said.

The couple recently purchased a Plan Three at Pardee Homes' Fontana neighborhood in Eldorado Highlands, and plan to move in by Thanksgiving with their daughters, Emily, 9, and Cassidy, 5.

The girls attend Lee Antonello Elementary School, which is located within the community. Sheila is a legal secretary and Greg, a Las Vegas native, is an office manager for a construction company.

"Fontana features family living at its best in Eldorado. There are few communities in the Las Vegas Valley where families are as close-knit and active as they are in Eldorado," sales executive Rob Tuvell said.

As with all the builder's neighborhoods, Fontana homes include the Energy Star package that increases a home's energy efficiency by at least 30 percent.

The single-story Plan One has three bedrooms, two baths, a family room and two-car garage. Options include a nursery off the master suite, two master suites and a three-car garage. Depending on options, the design measures 1,594 or 1,827 square feet, and is priced from $186,450 and $197,450.

Measuring 2,349 square feet, the Plan Three is a two-story home with three bedrooms, a den or optional fourth bedroom, three baths, and a two- or three-car garage. The home is priced from $217,450.

Priced from $229,950 and measuring 2,459 square feet, Plan Four is a two-story, four-bedroom, three-bath home with a three-car garage. Other configurations include the 2,712-square-foot design with as many as five bedrooms, and the 2,931-square-foot design with as many as six bedrooms.

Twelve designs, including those from the builder's Talavera and Mandevilla neighborhoods, are featured in the model park.

Community amenities include two parks, and a fire station.
